LAKE WALES, Fla. (March 6, 2020) - No. 2 St. Thomas University (STU) Bobcats Baseball (16-4) split a doubleheader in day two of the Warner tournament. The Bobcats defeated University of Michigan-Dearborn (7-13) 2-1 and lost to Spring Arbor University (MI.) (11-4) 5-2 to complete pool play.

Game Notes

• Andrew opened the game by striking out the first two Wolverine batters he faced.
• The Bobcat offense had the first two batters reach base, with Lopez drawing a walk and Guerra singling to center.
• Andrew struck out three consecutive UMD hitters, bouncing back from back-to-back walks to begin the second inning.
• Michigan-Dearborn recorded their lone hit of the game in the top of the third, with a bunt single.
• Izquierdo broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth, scoring Kafele Thomas with an RBI single.
• Andrew struck out two more in the top of the fifth inning, adding to his total.
• STU scored an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Thompson scored Thomas with a sacrifice fly.
• In the top of the seventh inning, UMD loaded the bases and scored their only run of the game on a wild pitch, cutting the STU lead to 2-1.
• Andrew escaped the jam by forcing a groundout, as St. Thomas earned their 16th win of the season.

• Spring Arbor scored a run in the first inning, leading 1-0 following a lead-off home run. 
• SAU tacked on another run, taking advantage of a Bobcat error in the bottom of the second inning.
• The Cougars extended their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring on an RBI single.
• SAU hit their second home run of the day, chasing Touron, in the bottom of the fifth inning and taking a 5-0 lead.
• Perez Nichols came in for STU and pitched the remainder of the game.
• STU got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth inning, as Rivero scored on an RBI double from Mondejar. 
• Later in the inning, Lope singled to left-field and brought in Khawly, putting the score at 5-2.
• STU was retired in order in the top of the seventh inning, ending a modest six-game winning streak.
