STU SITS ALONE AT THE TOP OF THE SUN AFTER SWEEP OF SEU

LAKELAND, Fla. (October 10, 2021) – St. Thomas University's (STU) Women's Volleyball team (12-5, 6-1 SUN) swept their sixth Sun Conference opponent to move to a four-game win streak defeating Southeastern University (14-10, 3-4 SUN). This is the end of the first go around through conference play. The Bobcats sit alone at the top with falling just short of sweeping all SUN opponents when the team lost to College of Coastal Georgia.
 
St. Thomas won in three sets, 25-15, 25-22, 25-16 from The Furnace.

  • Amanda Allende continues to shine off the bench with another double-digit kill performance.
  • Kendall Brock and Tyran Chenault both collected nine-kills on the afternoon.
  • Beecham led the assist category with 23.
  • Grassi took over in the back line with 17 digs.
  • Chenault and Dennis both picked up three blocks each.
  • St. Thomas dominated throughout the entire match and was really in cruise control.
  • The Bobcat hit .304 as a team almost hitting .300 in every set.
  • SEU hit .068 as a team going -.056 in set one, .226 in set two, and .056 in set three.
  • Dani Femat, Arianna Bolinger, all recorded two-service aces each out of the seven total.
  • STU is now 17-7 all time against the Fire and are currently on a three-game win streak between the two teams.
 
Up Next
St. Thomas will begin the second round of Sun Conference match ups as they hit the road Wednesday to take on Ave Maria University from Donahue Academy. First serve is at 7 p.m.
