BOBCATS CRUISE BY ROYALS IN SATURDAY SWEEP

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (October 16, 2021) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Volleyball team (14-6, 7-2 SUN) had an easy Saturday afternoon in the Fernandez Family Center sweeping Warner University (4-16, 0-9 SUN), 25-20, 25-16, 25-19 in Sun Conference play.

Match Notes
  • The match started evenly as the teams went back and forth trading points and the lead.
  • St. Thomas would end up going on a 5-1 rally to close out the first set.
  • Chenault had the final three kills to close it out.
  • The second set was more controlling for STU as the team opened with a 6-2 advantage.
  • After a Royals service error, the Bobcats used the momentum of Beecham's serve to close out the set and take a 2-0 match lead.
  • Allende had two powerful kills, Beecham picked up a service ace and Dennis shut the door with a kill of her own.
  • STU just kept on rolling and finding their rhythm as the match went on.
  • Set three was the most dominant as the Bobcats hit a match-high .382 with 17-kills.
  • Chenualt once again helped close out the set for the Bobcats getting the final kill and block assist to conclude the sweep.
  • This is the seventh conference sweep for St. Thomas.

  • Tyran Chenault led the way with 13-kills and three blocks.
  • Arianna Bolinger also racked up 10-kills off the bench.
  • St. Thomas' defense out blocked Warner 5-1.
  • Beecham led the way in assists for STU with 23.
