ARZENO AND ACERBI LEAD #7 BOBCATS TO UPSET VICTORY AND REGULAR SEASON TITLE

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (October 29, 2021) – The seventh ranked St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer team (11-0-2, 7-0-1 SUN) clinched the Sun Conference Regular Season title with the upset on the road at the fifth ranked Keiser University Seahawks (10-2-1, 6-1-1 SUN). The win secured the number one seed for the Sun Conference Tournament and continues the undefeated season for the Bobcats.

For the first time since 2017 the Bobcats reclaim the regular season crown. This also marks the second time in program history that STU goes undefeated in regular season play. The Bobcats will look to stay atop of the conference and sweep the tournament champions title as well to go back-to-back.

Fernando Arzeno and Franco Acerbi were the stars of today's show to pick up the road victory. Arzeno scored both Bobcat goals in the match, while Acerbi did it all on the defensive end picking up four key saves.

Arzeno's first goal came by no surprise and the Argentinian made his third 40-yard plus goal catching the keeper up out of the box and getting it just enough over his head. This gave STU a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute. The second goal sealed the deal coming in the 83rd minute as he took the cross and volleyed straight to the back right of the net.

Acerbi and the defense held the Seahawks offense to their third scoreless match this season. Every opportunity that looked promising for Keiser was shut down by a clutch slide tackle clear or a punchout by Acerbi.
