MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (October 9, 2021) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Swimming team opened the 2021-22 season with a dominant victory over Ave Maria University in the programs first dual meet and inaugural home meet. The dual took place at Miami-Dade College North Campus Aquatic Center, on Saturday morning. The Bobcats had a great performance taking the meet 223-23.

It was a beautiful day to make history for St. Thomas University. Head Coach
Caesar Asadi led the Bobcats to an unbelievable outing in front of the home crowd. The women's team swept every single event taking first place in the 14 events both individual and relays.

Andrea Guerrero led the way in her second year at STU with a 27-point performance. Guerrero picked up points in the 200-yard medley relay, the 200-yard butterfly, the 200-yard breaststroke, and the 100-yard butterfly. The sophomore was also the overall leading scoring on the whole day.

Maria Sanchez-Galvan had quite the collegiate debut as the freshmen from Malaga, Spain recorded 22 points.
Milagros Gonzalez and Aliisha Uzakova tied for 21-points on the overall leaderboard.

The program is set for great success soon, Coach Asadi believe that he is building a culture of winning and soon making St. Thomas a powerhouse in the NAIA and Florida.
