BIG THIRD QUARTER LEADS BOBCATS PAST ROYALS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 20, 2021) - The St. Thomas University Women's Basketball team (3-2, 1-2 SUN) picked up their first Sun Conference win of the year over Warner University (1-4, 0-3 SUN), 74-62. The Bobcats used a 30-point third quarter to complete the comeback.

The first quarter was a well fought back and forth battle. Warner would eventually take it 15-13. The second quarter saw the same action as the Royals would take a 31-28 lead into the half after Brooke Bogatz hit a buzzer beater three pointer to cut the lead to five.

The Bobcats exploded for a huge third quarter that showed to be the difference maker in the game. Kasey Gagan led the way with 11 points in quarter going 3-5 from behind the arc. The team shot 53% from the splashing six-threes.

The Royals would fight the 13-point deficit to start the quarter to bring it to within five, but St. Thomas continued to pressure and kept a distant lead. The largest lead would be the final for STU at fourteen-points.

St. Thomas would capitalize on Warner mistakes scoring 23 points on turnovers. The bench stepped up again for STU delivering 19-points to Warner's six.Bogatz had 13 of the 19 bench points. St. Thomas shot 40% from the three point line. 

Gagan had an outstanding night recording her Bobcat-high with 30-points and grabbing nine rebounds almost collecting her first double-double as a Bobcat. Martínez-Sanz was close to a double-double recording nine rebounds and eight assist.

St. Thomas will host Johnson University on Tuesday, November 23. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
