BOBCAT BENCH SHINES BRIGHT IN VICTORY OVER SUNS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 23, 2021) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team (4-2, 1-2 SUN) scored 104 points on Tuesday night in route to victory over Johnson University (0-6) from the Fernandez Family Center Gym. This marks the second time in the Candace Walker Era that the Bobcats break 100-points (December 4, 2019 vs. Trinity College 106-26).

Since 2019 the Bobcats are 4-0 over Johnson and have won every matchup played. This is also the second lowest points allowed by an opponent. St. Thomas has outscored the Suns 328-165 in their matches having a scoring differential of 163 points

St. Thomas scored 31 points in the first quarter to take the commanding 31-5 lead. Connieya Bradford led all scoring and had 10 of her 20 points in the first quarter off the bench. 

Bria Brown followed in the second quarter scoring 10-points. The Bobcats only gave up 11-points in the first half, the least in a half in program history. The defense forces 22 turnovers in the first half. STU would take a 54-11 lead into the half.

The third quarter did not slow down as STU put up 29-points and only allowed eight. Bradford had another 10-point quarter to boost a career-high 20-points. 

In the fourth quarter the Bobcat bench enjoy the spotlight and we're led by freshmen spark, Damia Woolcock, who had six-points. Woolcock also had the basket that broke 100.

Overall St. Thomas had 64-points off of turnovers. The Bobcat bench had 73 of the 104 points. STU scored 54-points in the paint. Brooke Bogatz was another standout scoring 17-points.

St. Thomas will head up-north for the Thanksgiving break and play in the Julie Costello Memorial Classic starting Friday against no. 14 Lindsey Wilson College on the campus of Thomas More University, tip is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
