FOURTH QUARTER COMEBACK FALLS SHORT FOR THE BOBCATS ON THE ROAD

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (December 11, 2021) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team (7-4, 3-2 SUN) fell to NCAA Division II opponent, Edward Waters University (9-4) on Saturday afternoon on the road, 75-69. This is the start of the second round of non-conference action for the Bobcats.

Game Notes
  • This is the third straight game that the starting lineup remains the same as the Bobcats look to gather rhythm coming off two Sun Conference wins.
  • Chrystal Pressley started the game with a bucket in the paint to give STU a 2-0 lead.
  • In a back-and-forth contest, EWU grabbed an 11-7 lead through the media timeout in the first quarter.
  • Gagan scored eight of her 13-points in the first quarter after having to sit all of the second quarter due to early foul trouble.
  • The game was tied five times in just the first quarter.
  • Kylie Vogel scored the opening bucket in the second quarter that tied the game up at 22 all.
  • Bria Brown scored from downtown to take a one-point lead with seven-minutes on the clock.

  • St. Thomas turned it up in the fourth quarter scoring 21-points and limiting Edward Waters to 13-points, the least in a quarter for the game.

  • Kayla Rodriguez had a key defensive stop that looked to give STU the momentum they needed while also hitting a fastbreak layup to make it 75-69 with just under three minutes remaining.
  • St. Thomas was unable to apply the pressure and cut more into the deficit.
