BOBCATS STRUGGLE IN THE BATTLE OF MIAMI GARDENS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 20, 2021) - St. Thomas University Women's Basketball (17-4, 14-4 TSC) fell to Florida Memorial University (10-10, 10-9 TSC) 53-60 Saturday afternoon in the Battle of Miami Gardens.

Game Notes:

  • The Lions began the first with a short lead over the Bobcats, 2-0.
  • Free throws from Anari Dozier put the Bobcats within one of the Lions, 7-8.
  • Martinez-Sanz gave the Bobcats their first lead of the game, 11-10, with 20 seconds left in the first quarter.
  • The first quarter closed out with the Lions taking a one-point lead 12-11.
  • Starting the second quarter, Dozier kept the Bobcats within one after recording two more free throws, 13-14.
  • With the first Bobcat three-pointer of the game, Dozier tied the score 16-16 halfway through the second quarter.
  • Lions went on a 7-0 run, 23-16, only ending from a layup from Pressley.
  • A jumper from Connieya Bradford kept the Bobcats within three, 23-26, to close out the first half of play.
  • Back-to-back three-pointers by Rodriguez put the Bobcats over the Lions by one, 29-28.
  • Keaubree Edwards gave Bobcats their most significant lead of the game, 31-28 with 5:47 left in the third quarter.
  • Brooke Bogatz kept the Bobcats close to the Lions with a layup, 36-39.
  • The third quarter closed out with a jumper from Bogatz in an attempt to close the Lion lead, 38-45.
  • Two made free-throws from Martinez-Sanz kept the Bobcats within seven, 40-47 to start the fourth quarter.
  • Bobcats went on a 9-4 battle to close out the game to try and end the game in the Bobcats' favor.
  • Bradford recorded the game's final points with a layup to close the game in the Lions' favor with a lead of seven, 53-60.
