MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 27, 2021) - St. Thomas University (STU) Softball (3-1) swept a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon against Edward Waters College (4-3), winning game one 3-0 and game two 9-1 from Colonel Jacqueline Kelly Field.

- Fresh-off a complete-game victory on Wednesday against the FNU Conquistadors, Smith took to the mound to open the Saturday doubleheader against Edward Waters.
- Smith retired the first ten Tiger hitters she faced to open the game before allowing a fourth-inning single.
- STU was held hitless until the fourth inning when Spalding lined a lead-off single to left-field.Â
- Later in the inning, Bautista homered over the left-field fence for her first and the team's first home run of the season, giving St. Thomas a 2-0 lead over Edward Waters.Â
- The Bobcats added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Guillermo scored Nicole Hauck on a fielder's choice, bringing the score to 3-0.
- Smith finished her second consecutive complete game by working around two singles in the top of the seventh, as STU won 3-0.Â

- Winter retired the Tigers in order, opening the second game of the doubleheader.
- EWC scored its first run of the game on an error by STU, as the Tigers took a 1-0 advantage.
- Winter and the Bobcats quickly tied the game in the bottom of the second inning, as Winter scored Ochoa on a single.
- STU took its first lead of the game by taking advantage of EWC errors, as St. Thomas led 3-1 after three innings of play.
- A four-run bottom of the fourth inning broke the game open for STU.Â
- Spalding led the inning off with a triple to center-field and scored on a double from Artiles.Â
- Bautista singled in Artiles with a base-hit, putting the score at 5-1.
- Winter capped off the inning with a two-run double, plating Gilbert and Chambers.
- Winter finished her outing with two strikeouts in the sixth inning.
- STU sealed the run-rule victory as Winter scored on a bunt single from Hauck.
