KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 11, 2021) - St. Thomas University (STU) Softball (6-4) completed its spring break slate of games by splitting the doubleheader against William-Penn University and Dordt College from the Fortune Road Athletic Complex. STU lost to William-Penn, 4-6, and defeated Dordt College, 8-4, to go 3-1 on the week.
Game One vs. William-Penn

- St. Thomas got on the scoreboard early with an RBI double from Bautista, bringing in Spalding.
- WPU tied the game in the bottom half of the inning, scoring on an RBI single through the left side of the infield.
- William-Penn tacked on another run in the second inning, taking a 2-1 lead.
- STU reclaimed the lead in the top of the fourth inning, as Samaniego drove in Artiles and Uribe with a two-run single.
- WPU responded with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth, putting the score at 5-3.
- The Statesmen added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning, taking a 6-3 lead.
- STU attempted to comeback in the top of the seventh inning, with Samaniego scoring on a double-steal.
- The rally ended with a groundout, as the Bobcats lost 6-4.

- Samaniego added her third RBI of the day, bringing in Artiles to tie the game 1-1.
- Gilbert scored the second run on the inning for STU, as the Bobcats took a 2-1 lead.
- Gilbert extended the St. Thomas lead in the bottom of the third inning, plating Artiles and Guillermo with a two-run double.
- An RBI single from Dordt put the score at 4-2 in the top of the fourth inning.
- The Bobcat offense erupted in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring three runs to take a 7-2 lead.
- Spalding walked with the bases loaded, bringing in Winter.
- Guillermo added an RBI single, which brought in Negron, as STU took a 6-2 lead.
- Bautista scored on a sacrifice fly from Artiles to cap off the inning.
- Winter worked around an error and a single, preserving the five-run advantage for STU.
- Gilbert scored on a single from Samaniego, giving STU an 8-2 lead.
- Three straight hits from Dordt put the score at 8-4.
- Smith recorded the final five outs for St. Thomas, including three strikeouts, as STU won 8-4.
