MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 18, 2021) - (RV) St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer team (11-4) was beaten by the Florida National University Conquistadors 2-0 on Thursday evening from Bobcat Field.

Game Notes

• Acerbi kept FNU out of the net by picking up his first save of the match in the 22nd minute.
• Ziedler gave STU its first scoring chance but hit the crossbar with a header in the 30th minute.
• Madero followed off of the rebound but missed high of the net. 
• In the 34th minute, Oghogho's shot-on-goal was saved, and the score remained 0-0.
• FNU took its second chance of the game, but Acerbi once again stopped the Conquistadors from scoring.
• Florida National's best opportunity came in the final moments of the first half, as the Conquistadors had a chance with Acerbi out of the box. 
• Collazo, the STU defender, headed the ball out of the area, preserving the clean sheet for St. Thomas.
• The crosstown rivals went into the halftime break tied 0-0.
• Gianopiero Petrilli tried to get STU on the scoreboard, but the FNU keeper stopped his attempt.
• In the 65th minute, Oghogho and Petrilli each added their second opportunity on goal but could not capitalize.
• FNU scored the first goal in the 71st minute, capitalizing on a breakaway opportunity.
• The Bobcats offense failed to score and fell to the Conquistadors for the second time in the 2020-21 season. 

St. Thomas plays in the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round beginning on April 22-24 from campus sites.
