BOBCATS SPLIT WITH NO. 25 FIRE

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 20, 2021) - St. Thomas University Softball (7-7, 1-3 TSC) split a doubleheader against No. 25 Southeastern University (19-8, 3-1 TSC) Saturday afternoon from Col. Jacquelin J. Kelly Field. Southeastern won the first matchup 9-3, while Bobcats won the second 7-3.

Game One

Starters:

Notes:

  • The top of the first inning was a strong start for the Fire as they recorded five runs to gain a lead over the Bobcats quickly.
  • Erica Winter became the new pitcher in the top of the second with one out away.
  • The Fire would score three more in the top of the second to make it 8-0.
  • The Fire went on to add one more run to their total in the top of the third 9-0.
  • A triple from Pacetti gained her 3 RBIs, putting the Bobcats on the board, 9-3, in the bottom of the third.
  • Bobcats defense responded with a three up, three down inning to return to the plate.
  • The fourth inning for the remainder of the game remained scoreless, securing the win for the Fire.


 

Game Two

Notes: 

  • The first inning was quick for the Fire and the Bobcats, both trying to get on the board first. 
  • Bobcats came alive in the second inning, putting up four runs, starting with Pacetti being hit by a pitch to be the first runner.
  • Hits from Winter, Hauck, and Artiles, which also included a walk to Spalding, kept the Bobcats' bases loaded, 4-0.
  • Pacetti scored on a wild pitch in the third inning, adding one more to the Bobcat total, 5-0.
  • Pacetti's double and a double by Bautista scored two more, putting the Bobcats up by 7 in the fourth.
  • Inning five was quick for both sides as the Fire and Bobcats went scoreless.
  • The Fire added their first run to the game in the top of the sixth; Bobcats went scoreless.
  • The Fire attempted to close the Bobcat lead but could only add two to their score, finalizing the score 7-3 in the Bobcat favor.
