BLUFFTON, SC. (March 25, 2021) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Softball team (8-8, 2-4 TSC) continued Sun Conference play with a doubleheader against the University of South Carolina-Beaufort (12-12, 3-5 TSC) on Thursday afternoon from the Richard Gray Sports Complex. The Bobcats defeated the Sandsharks 1-0 in extra innings in the first game and followed with a 7-0 defeat in the second game.

- Winter worked around two singles in the first inning.
- Hauck broke up a string of eight consecutive outs for the Bobcats, reaching base with a walk in the top of the third inning.
- Bautista recorded the first STU hit of the game in the top of the fourth inning, singling to right field.
- Winter ended the bottom of the fourth inning with a strikeout, keeping the score at 0-0.
- The Sandsharks had a runner on third base but Winter forced two consecutive outs to escape the jam.
- Winter kept USCB off the board through seven innings, sending the game into extra innings tied 0-0.
- Samaniego reached third base following a sacrifice bunt from Oaskarley Ochoa, and scored on a sacrifice fly from Kaitlin Spalding.
- Winter ended the game with a 1-2-3 eighth inning, recording 12 consecutive outs to end the game and earning her fifth win of the season.

- USCB tallied a run in the bottom of the first inning off of back-to-back doubles.
- STU opened the top of the second inning with consecutive singles by Bautista and Guillermo.
- The pair reached scoring position after a double steal, but STU was unable to capitalize and kept the score at 1-0.Â
- Spalding and Bautista each added hits in the top of the fourth inning.
- Spalding was thrown out at the plate, as USCB prevented the tying run from scoring.Â
- With bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, Winter worked out of the jam to keep the score at 1-0.
- USCB added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, following a two-run single.
- Larisa Smits entered as the pitcher for STU in the bottom of the sixth inning, and allowed four runs as USCB took a 7-0 lead.
- The Sandsharks sent the Bobcats down in order in the top of the seventh inning, as STU dropped the second half of the doubleheader, 7-0.
