LATE INNING HEROICS LEAD #14 STU PAST #8 KU

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 13, 2021) - No. 14 St. Thomas University (STU) Bobcats Baseball (27-16) defeated No. 8 Keiser University 3-2 with a 10th inning walk-off single in non-conference action on Tuesday evening from Paul Demie Mainieri Field.

Game Notes

  • Coipel worked around back-to-back singles from the Seahawks by ending the first inning with a strikeout. 
  • STU turned to Robert Touron in the top of the third inning, KU scored two runs on consecutive RBI groundouts to take a 2-0 lead.
  • The Bobcats plated a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, with Mondejar singled to center field and scoring Rangel.
  • Andy Quintana came into pitch for STU in the fifth and escaped a bases-loaded jam with a strikeout. 
  • Thompson and Lopez recorded back-to-back hits in the bottom of the fifth inning but were unable to come around to score for St. Thomas.
  • Fernando Medina entered in the top of the sixth, tallying two strikeouts. 
  • Joel Rivero relieved Medina in the top of the seventh inning.
  • With runners on first and second, Jose Ledesma entered the game for STU. 
  • After loading the bases, Ledesma recorded two consecutive strikeouts and escaped the jam. 
  • Entering as a pinch-hitter, Gus Guerra tied the game with an RBI single up the middle of the field, tying the game 2-2.
  • Guerra started the bottom of the tenth inning with a double to right-center field.
  • Entering as a pinch-hitter with the bases loaded and two outs, Erik Estevez lined a single over the left fielder, and the Bobcats walked off on the No.8 Seahawks.
