MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 17, 2021) - No. 24 St. Thomas University Women's Tennis completed the 2021 regular season with a 4-3 Sun Conference victory over the Mariners of Coastal Georgia on Saturday morning from the STU Tennis Courts.
Singles
- Annie Carrera began the day with a two-set victory over Marianela Landi (6-3, 6-0).
- Manami Maehama was the second Bobcat to earn a set win on the afternoon, defeating Molly McManus (6-0, 6-2).
- Amber Paterson was defeated in two sets (6-3, 6-3).
- Thais Shibata was defeated from the No. 4 singles slot (6-1, 6-3).
- Thalia Skeene claimed the third Bobcat win of the afternoon, beating Azul Malatini in three sets, (6-1, 3-6, 6-2).
- Vanessa Centeno sealed the victory for St. Thomas, defeating Rocio Arraya (7[3]-6, 6-4).
Doubles
- Carrera and Paterson were the lone pair to claim victory in doubles, defeating Rubio and Malatini (6-4).
- Centeno and Maehama were defeated (0-6).
- Skeene and Mariah Bastos fell (2-6).
Upcoming
St. Thomas University Women's Tennis enters the Sun Conference Tournament as the fourth-seed. The Sun Conference Championship Tournament begins on Thursday, April 29, in Brunswick, Ga.
