BRUNSWICK, Ga. (April 29, 2021) - No. 17 St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Tennis (11-4) was defeated in the Sun Conference Championship Tournament Semifinal round by No. 21 Southeastern University 4-1 on Thursday afternoon from the Marta B. Torrey Tennis Complex.
Singles
- Sun Conference Second-Team member Alessandro Tabares picked up the lone Bobcat win of the afternoon from the third single position. Tabares defeated Theodor Preiswerk (6-3, 6-4).
- Sebastian Bunster was defeated by Alex D'Aboville (3-6, 6-2, 3-6).
- Tomas Pejanovic lost in two sets to Felipe Barbosa (1-6, 3-6).
- Juan Patino Pabon fell in three sets (6-0, 6-2, 6-2) to Tyler Glowaki.
Doubles
- Thomas Andrews and Tabares were defeated (3-6) by Enrique Martinez and Preiswerk.
- SEU clinched the upset victory over St. Thomas with D'Aboville and Omar Fiorenzato defeating Lucas Ribas and Sebastian Bunster (6-1).
No. 17 St. Thomas University now awaits the NAIA Selection show to see if the Bobcats advance to the 69th annual Men's Tennis Championship in Mobile, AL.
