MONTGOMERY, Ala. (May 18, 2021) - Third-seeded St. Thomas University (STU) Bobcats Baseball was eliminated from the Montgomery Bracket of the NAIA Opening Round following a 7-6 loss to fourth-seed Freed-Hardeman University (TN.) on Tuesday evening from Harrison Field on the campus of Faulkner University.
The loss ends the 2021 season for the No. 13 St. Thomas Baseball team.

- Cabrera worked around two base runners in the first inning to keep FHU off the scoreboard.
- Mantrana hit his first home run of the season to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.Â
- Cabrera shut down the Lions in the top of the third inning, preserving the 1-0 advantage.
- STU tacked on a second run in the bottom of the third inning, as Guerra scored on an RBI single from Estevez.
- Luis Gonzalez entered to pitch for the Bobcats in the top of the fifth with a runner on first base.
- After a strikeout to the first batter he faced, Gonzalez walked three consecutive Lion hitters as Freed-Hardeman got on the scoreboard for the first time.
- Gonzalez left the game with the bases loaded, turning the ball over to Joel Rivero.
- FHU scored seven runs in the top of the fifth inning, taking a 7-2 lead over St. Thomas.
- Back-to-back hits from Rivero and Mondejar brought in the third STU run, as Mondejar drove in Rivero with an RBI single.Â
- Schoeller belted the first home run of his St. Thomas career over the left-field foul pole, bringing the Bobcats within one, trailing 7-6.
- Fernando Medina, who entered in the top of the fifth inning, pitched the remainder of the game for STU.
- With the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the eighth inning, Medina struck out Will McCall to keep the Bobcats in the game, trailing 7-6.
- Schoeller and Fernandez recorded two consecutive hits in the bottom of the eighth inning.
- A wild pitch advanced both runners into scoring position with one out.
- STU was unable to capitalize, leaving the tying run on third base and ending the eighth inning.Â
- The Bobcats were unable to bring the tying run into score in the bottom of the ninth inning, ending the 2021 season with a 7-6 loss to fourth-seed Freed-Hardeman.
