MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 18, 2022) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team (8-10, 4-4 SUN) wrapped up their first round of Sun Conference play on a high note defeating Ave Maria University (9-7, 3-4 SUN) 79-72 on Tuesday evening in a rescheduled contest. St. Thomas finishes the first round at an even .500 taking half the games and tied for fourth place with Keiser.

- The Bobcats snap a losing streak and get back in the win column to end the first round of conference play.
- It was a total team effort tonight against the Gyrenes as three Bobcats scored in double digits with help off the bench as well.
- In what was a slow start slowly sped up throughout the game. The first quarter ended in favor of the Gyrenes at 19-16.
- St. Thomas held the Gyrenes to just 14-points in the second quarter to take a five-point lead into the half.
- Despite a very hot-handed three points shooter in the Gyrenes Gianna Santacroce, STU held their own shooting 63-percent from behind the arc making 10-threes.

- Chrystal Pressley continues to lead the glass game and pick pocketed a few to add to her defensive stats.
- Pressley had 10-rebounds and four-steals to lead the defense.
- Naeve Duarte and Kayla Rodriguez gave the Bobcats a boost off the bench with 19-points combined.
