#19 Bobcats Defeat Royals With Strong Defensive Effort and Run Game

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (October 29, 2022)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Football team beat Warner with a strong Defensive effort, and solid performance from Rontavious Farmer once again breaking the 100-yard mark. The Bobcats couldn't seem to get going early, but found a way to beat the Royals by a score of 30-12.

The game opened up with a 61-yard kickoff return by Colton Weismore. After a seven play possession the Bobcats were able to get in field goal range for a 28-yard Alejandro Prado field goal. The STU defense forced the Royals to punt and the next drive for the Bobcat offense was a Tyler Thomas pass to Khalitri Zow that went for 90 yards for the score. Just when it looked like the Bobcats were going to run away with the offense stalled.

The second quarter began with a fourth down try by the Bobcats that was stuffed in the back field by the Royals. Warner took advantage of the stop with a drive of their own getting into field goal range. Kendall Wilson II had other thoughts, and picked off the Warner Quarterback giving the offense the ball back. The Bobcats made a Quarterback change to Ty'quan Wiggins, but would end up punting the ball after a seven play drive. To end the first half craziness would happen. The Royals would attempt to pass, but Nicholas Engler would strip the Quarterback and it was picked up by defensive lineman Khalill Bryan and returned 30-yards for the touchdown. 17-0 Bobcats at the half.

The Royals opened up the second half with the ball in their hands, and put together an 11 play 91 yard drive for a touchdown. Jhaqwori Austin jumped the line and blocked the extra point to make it 17-6 Bobcats. The next drive for the Bobcats ended pretty fast, but Braden Dick would fake the punt and rush for the first down keeping the drive alive. Rontavious Farmer used the momentum in his favor rushing for a total of 28-yards this drive topping it off with a touchdown. Warner would just not quit and went onto score yet again on a 14 play, 84-yard drive. The Royals had the ball with 1:11 left on the clock. The Quarterback tried to make things happen rushing himself, Khalill Bryan hit him to force a fumble that was picked up by Nicholas Engler and returned for a touchdown to end the game.
