MIAMI GARDENS, Fla (October 9, 2022) - The sixth ranked St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer team (5-0-2, 2-0-1 SUN) drew against Southeastern University (4-2-3, 0-0-1) on Saturday night from AutoNation Field. This is the second draw this season and first in Sun Conference play. St. Thomas continues to remain undefeated on the season.
Southeastern came out on the attack getting a shot on goal a minute and a half into the contest, Bobcat keeper,
Franco Acerbi made the big save. The Fire had three shots and two set pieces in just seven minutes of action putting on the pressure. The Bobcats did not get their first shot off until the 24th minute.
After a quite first half, St. Thomas picked it up in the second getting 11 shots together.
Mark Oghogho would scored the lone goal in the 53rd minute getting a chip in from
Facundo Cisterna and putting it away on the second shot after the keeper deflection.
As the offense pressure picked up, one bad miscue on a one-on-one with keeper Acerbi coming out for a ball had the game all tied up with just five minutes remaining. That would be enough to force the draw against the Fire.
St. Thomas will now play the rescheduled match on the road against Florida Memorial on Tuesday, October 11 at 7 p.m.
