MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 19, 2022)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team beat the Royals from Warner University in nail bighting fashion. The Bobcats were led by two double digit scorers, and containing the Royals to just one double digit scorer.Â
Â
Starting the game off for STU was
Bria Brown getting to the line, and
Connieya Bradford hitting a jumper in the paint.
Kasey Gagan gave the Bobcats an early lead with a three pointer.
Marta Franco got on the board with a jumper in the paint, followed by a
Bria Brown three ball, putting the Bobcats up two.Â
Â
Extending the lead was
Jayde Johnson in the paint for the tough two points. After some time,
Mya Moye worked her way to the line hitting one of two.
Brooke Bogatz made herself known with a jumper in the paint with hands in her face to make it a six-point game for the Bobcats.
Connieya Bradford gave STU a 10-point lead getting back to back lay ins.
Bria Brown got the last points of the first half, and the Bobcats were down two.Â
Â
To start the second half,
Mya Moye drilled one from behind the arch to get the lead back. Warner made a couple of back to back buckets, but
Connieya Bradford tied it up at 35. With some back and forward action,
Kasey Gagan tied it up once again after a three from deep. A little while later,
Mya Moye gave the Bobcats a one-point lead after a three of her own.Â
Â
Mya Victor checked back in after some time out, and got right to scoring. Victor got to the line making one of two, and hit a jumper in the paint for another two.
Kasey Gagan extended the lead of a fast break, and
Bria Brown extended the lead by 8-points, and it looked like the Bobcats would run away with it. The Royals had other plans, making a couple of baskets and getting to within two points.Â
Â
Warner took the lead by one, but a
Mya Moye jumper would give the lead back to STU with a minute to play. The Royals fouled
Bria Brown in hopes to save some time, and Brown made one of two at the line. Warner had two seconds remaining and ran out of time before even making it to half court, and the Bobcats won by a score of 56-54.Â
