MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 4, 2022)– The Bobcats are coming off an impressive victory over conference opponent Warner University. No. 19 St. Thomas will look to continue their playoff push this Saturday against yet another conference opponent, Webber International University. A special game for many as the Bobcats will host Senior Day to honor those who have contributed to the football program since its birth in 2019.
The Bobcats were able to run up the score on winless Warner early forcing a 17-0 run going into the half. A combination of both a stellar defensive performance responsible for two touchdowns along with a run game that wouldn't be denied all night were key components in Saturday night's win.
After a pair of unsuccessful opening drives, no. 19 STU drew first blood on the scoreboard as senior Quarterback,
Tyler Thomas connects with junior Wide Receiver, Khalitiri Zow over the middle for a 90-yard touchdown. A possession that would soon change the momentum for the rest of the game and open the flood gates for what was to come.
On the other side of the ball, senior Defensive Lineman, Khalil Bryan was a playmaker all night. Ending the day with 6 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, along with a 30-yard fumble recovery touchdown to prove the famous saying to be true, defense does win games.
With that game all said and done, no. 19 STU will look to beat a hungry Webber International team who are currently fighting for a playoff spot. The 5-2 Warriors currently average just about 32 points a game while giving up 21 per contest. Webber's offense is led by Quarterback, Cody Braden. The senior from Orange City, Fl is currently having one of his best seasons to date. Braden has thrown for 1,110 yards on the season while finding the endzone 11 times in that span.
Defensively, Webber's Devonte Harris has been a problem for opposing offenses all season. The senior Defensive Back from Apopka High School currently leads the team in almost every major statistical category. Through 6 games, he's responsible for 33 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, and 3 pass breakups.
When asked about what a playoff push would mean to the St. Thomas program, this is what junior Wide Receiver,
Khalitri Zow had to say, "I feel very confident in making a deep playoff push. When both sides of the ball are firing on all cylinders as well as special teams, we are unstoppable, and that's with knowing that we still haven't even played our best football yet."
Kickoff is set for 12 P.M. on Saturday, November 5th at AutoNation Field.
