TAMPA, Fla. (September 7, 2022) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer team (2-0) continues to roll past NCAA Division II opponents in the 2022 season. A two hour lightning delay did not hold back the Bobcats against the University of Tampa Spartans (1-2-0) on Tuesday evening. St. Thomas came out firing from the gate and took the contest 2-0.

Game Notes
- For the first time in program history, the Bobcats earn back-to-back shutouts to start the season.
- Franco Acerbi has been in the net for both games this season and has yet to allow a goal in 180-minutes of play and has four saves, two in each contest.
- The senior had pressure through most of the game as Tampa took 14 shots, only three of which were actually on goal.
- Guido Cacciabue got the scoring started with another fifth minute goal as a cross from Nicolas Bertuleit found the back post and foot of Cacciabue, who put it right passed the keeper in one touch.
- This is the first time St. Thomas has back-to-back seasons starting 2-0.
- Both teams had offensive pressure in the first half for a total on 15 shots combined.
- St. Thomas was able to capitalize later in the game with an insurance goal from the bench courtesy of Mark Oghogho in the 68th minute to make it 2-0.
- This was the first meeting since 2007 against Tampa and was also a 2-0 STU win.
- This is also the first time since 2019 that the Bobcats beat two NCAA DII opponents in the same season.
