More Records Broken and Two Seniors Honored at FAU Dual

BOCA RATON, Fla. (January 21, 2023) – St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Swimming honored their second group of seniors on Saturday afternoon. Marta Lekovic and Mikayla DePover were celebrated as just the second class on the women's side. Both Bobcats joined the team in 2021 and are a part of the first All-Americans in the program.
 
The team honored the seniors on their road dual against Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla.

  • The freshmen Sophie Urias stole the spotlight on senior day breaking a program record held by herself in the 1000-yard freestyle.
  • Urias shredded 11 seconds off her personal best for a new record of 10:53.75.
  • St. Thomas as team garnered four gold, four silver, and five bronze medal placements.
  • Alessia Claassen and Mikayla DePover joined Urias with first place finishes in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard breast, respectively.
  • Three Bobcats hit provisional marks with Wiktoria Bidnik (100-yard back), Martine Abrahamsen (200-yard free), and DePover (100-yard breast).
  • St. Thomas opened the meet with a splash taking first-place in the 200-yard medley relay, breaking a new program record at 1:36.06.
  • The medley team consisted on Claudia Ashford, Maria Sanchez Galvan, Hannah Pape, and Amanda Clarke.

St. Thomas will now begin to prepare for the first-ever Sun Conference Swimming Championship meet as they will compete against some of the nation's best in no. 1 Keiser and no. 7 SCAD-Savannah.
