Another Strong Effort Gives #3 Men's Soccer Victory Over Fire

LAKELAND, Fla. (October 11, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's soccer squad traveled to Lakeland, Fla. to match up against the Southeastern Fire for the second time this season. The Bobcats offense was clicking, and Franco Acerbi held it down on the back half with three saves on four shots on goal.

The game got off to a slow start, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm in the first half. However, at the 36:23 mark, STU's Benjamin Stein managed to break the deadlock with a spectacular goal, his third of the season. He was brilliantly assisted by Nicolas Lund, who set up the goal with a perfectly timed pass.

The Fire not to be outdone, trying to fight their way back into the game. At 51:41, Chris Thorpe of SEU found the back of the net with his second goal of the season, making it 1-1. The match was now balanced, with both teams showing tremendous grit.

However, the Bobcats were determined to come out on top, and they showed their determination at the 54:38 mark. Guido Cacciabue, the standout player of the match, scored his sixth goal of the season, giving STU a 2-1 lead. Cacciabue's clinical finishing and composure in front of the goal were on full display.

The Bobcats continued to press forward, and at the 68:12 mark, Tomas Persico sealed the victory with his seventh goal of the season. Guido Cacciabue returned the favor, assisting Persico with a perfectly timed pass that the striker converted into a goal.

The final whistle blew with the score at 3-1 in favor of STU. It was a well-deserved victory for the team, with Benjamin Stein, Guido Cacciabue, and Tomas Persico all putting in standout performances. The fans were treated to an exciting match with fantastic goals, skilled assists, and plenty of drama on the field. The Bobcats however walked away with the 4-1 victory.
