Historic Day as Bobcats Roll Past Gyrenes on Homecoming

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (October 21, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Football team scored the most points in program history in their homecoming win over the Ave Maria Gyrenes. The Bobcats scored on offense, defense, and even special teams.
 
In the opening quarter, the Bobcats showed their dominance. Rontavious Farmer started the scoring with a remarkable 55-yard run, securing the first touchdown of the game, followed by a successful kick by Alejandro Prado. STU swiftly capitalized on a blocked punt by Jesson Walker, extending their lead to 14 points. Shortly after, Nathan Pierre recovered a fumble and added another touchdown to the Bobcats tally, courtesy of Alejandro Prado's reliable kicking skills.
 
The highlight of the quarter came when Keely Watson connected with David Hayes for an impressive 79-yard pass, putting STU up 28-0. The Gyrenes managed to break through the STU defense, successfully kicking a 31-yard field goal, making the score 28-3 at the end of the first quarter.
 
In the second quarter, STU continued to dominate the game. Ashton Davis scored with a 4-yard run, with Alejandro Prado maintaining his perfect record of extra points. Keely Watson connected with Angelo McDowell for a 17-yard pass, extending their lead to 42-3. However, AMU managed to put points on the board, closing the gap to 42-10 at halftime.
 
In the third quarter, Rontavious Farmer showcased his skills again with a 3-yard run, and Alejandro Prado added a 30-yard field goal to STU's total. The score stood at 52-10 heading into the final quarter.
 
STU continued to dominate in the fourth quarter, with Ashton Davis and C'quan Jnopierre both finding the end zone with their respective runs. Khalitri Zow secured the final touchdown of the game with a 25-yard pass from Ty'Quan Wiggins. The game ended with a commanding 73-10 victory for STU.
