AVE MARIA, Fla. (October 4, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer team picked up their seventh win in a row, defeating the Ave Maria Gyrenes 2-0. Federico Testoni and Nicolas Lund scored the goals for STU, assisting each other on them.
 
The Bobcats got after the Gyrenes early, as Angelo Bernandes and Lucas Caferra were able to get back to back shots off in the opening two minutes. Just over seven minutes into the first half, STU was still generating offense getting two scoring opportunities that were blocked by the Ave Maria defense. With thirty-five minutes left in the first half the Bobcats let four shots go that just couldn't find the back of the net. Two minutes left in the opening half, Federico Testoni finally broke through for the Bobcats after receiving a pass from Nicolas Lund to put STU up 1-0.
 
Heading into the second half with the lead the Bobcats came out with intensity once again. It paid off for them as Nicolas Lund received a pass from Federico Testoni and made no mistakes putting STU up 2-0. The Gyrenes really had no answer, only getting two shots off before the game would end in a win for the Bobcats.
