Williams Highlights Victory Over (RV) Seahawks

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (December 9, 2023) – Saturday night marked the second annual outdoor dual for the (RV) St. Thomas Wrestling team as they took their talents on the mat out from the Fernandez Family Center Gym to AutoNation Field. The Bobcats defeated (RV) Keiser in the dual 29-15 in a controlling fashion. STU now holds the advantage in the overall record at 4-3 over the Seahawks.
Highlights
  • St. Thomas came out the gate and won the first two matches via forfeit.
  • The Bobcats then proceeded to extend that with an upset win in the first wrestled match and the anticipated matchup of no. 13 Thomas Williams and no. 2 Pat Gould.
  • Williams got a late takedown as the buzzer went off to force sudden death and took it with an early takedown.
  • Noah Horst then came in with the same energy and picked up a tech fall with three takedowns, seven nearfall points, and a reversal.
  • Christian Espinoza had control of his match until the third period where a late comeback fell in a decision loss.
  • Wetzel Hill backed up the new no. 15 ranking with a controlling major decision win.
  • Hill had four takedowns in his match dominating and securing ride time as well.
  • Michael Abidin debuted for the 2023-24 season and did not disappoint with the tech fall victory.
  • Abidin secured the most takedowns with six in his match.
  • JJ Contreras picked the dual's only pin in an exhibition match.
  • Four of the five Bobcats ranked picked up a win, David Pierson did not wrestle.
  • STU won six of the 10 matches, two by forfeit, one major, one sudden victory, and two tech fall.
  • The Bobcats dominated the takedowns with 15 to Keiser's three.
  • As a team, STU had six escapes, three reversals, and three ride time additions.
