MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 11, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Wrestling team took it outside for their match today against the #2 ranked team in the nation, Life University. The Bobcats stole two classes, but were ultimately taken down 39-6.
 
Starting it off in the 125lb division, Dj Perez was defeated by Adrian Morales by major decision 15-4. Jumping to the 133lb class, Omar Corrales picked up the first victory for the Bobcats, defeating Travis Knowlton by decision 6-4. 
 
In the 149lb division, Christian Espinoza picked up the second win for STU, defeating Rex McDaniel by decision 5-4. Noel Fuentes was defeated by fall by Steven Villalobos in the 157lb class.
 
Daniel Garlin came up just short in the 165lb class losing to Tyler Helfrich-Meyer by decision 6-5. Buck Abidin was defeated in the 174lb division by Tre Morrisette by major decision 17-5. Christian Cobo was lost by tech fall the fifth ranked wrestler in the 184lb class, Asher Eichert. 
 
Shemar Barthelus was defeated by Timothy Barr in the 197lb class by fall. And finally, Jesus Perez was defeated in the 285lb division, by Spencer Dacus by way of fall to round out the dual.
