Baseball Drops First Two Games of Series to #23 Loyola (LA)

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 18, 2023)- The St. Thomas University Baseball team was defeated in the first two games of a three-game series against the #23 Loyola University Louisiana. 
 
 
Game One
  • The action started in the top of the third as Loyola scored first to lead 1-0.
  • The Bobcats responded in the bottom third, as Kevin Moreno singled to left field bringing in Lucas Lopez.
  • The Wolfpack added to their lead in the fourth taking a 2-1 lead.
  • Loyola added to their lead with a homer in the sixth for a 3-1 lead.
  • In the bottom of the ninth, Omar Baldo singled driving home Chris Schoeller.
  • With a chance to walk it off, Rey Hernandez struck out on a ball that barely painted the outside corner.
 
 
Game Two
  • The Bobcats started off hot, with Kendry Noriega singling, and Joey Thompson getting a double.
  • Kendry Noriega would go on to score on a passed ball by the catcher. 
  • After an error by the Wolfpack, Joey Thompson scored to take an early 2-0 lead.
  • In the top of the third, Loyola tied the game up at two, and added another in the top of the fourth. 
  • In the fifth, the Wolfpack's bats were hot again knocking in two more 4-2. 
  • The bottom of the fifth, Chris Schoeller singled up the middle, driving in Joey Thompson and Kendry Noriega after both batters walked.
  • Loyola would pick up three more in the eighth and would win the game 7-4.
