MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 31, 2023) - The heat was on in South Florida clearing out some gloomy days for a Sun Conference matchup for the no. 17 St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Tennis team (11-6, 2-2 SUN). The Bobcats dominantly took down no. 24 SCAD-Savannah 6-1 from the STU Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon.
St. Thomas won an electric tie breaker on court two in doubles to secure the first point of the match. Raul Safont Martinez and Bernardo Tajada did not drop a game going 6-0 on court three. Caio Amaral and Luis Leon took the tie breaker set on court two 7-5.
Singles play momentum was continued from Safont Martinez and Tajada as they took courts one and two in straight sets.
The backend of singles play was all Bobcats winning courts 4, 5, and 6. Maximiliano Rozas won court four in straight sets not dropping a game 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the match. Sebastian Mezo finished right behind winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 on court six. Jacub Federowicz finished the night with a win in court five in three sets: 6-3, 1-6, 10-7.
Amanal was the only Bobcat to fall in singles play 3-6, 3-6 on court three.
