MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 31, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) baseball team was defeated by the #6 Webber International Warriors in game one of the three game series by a score of 12-6.
 
The Warriors scored two runs in the first, but the Bobcats responded in the bottom of the first. Kendry Noriega hit a solo shot over the left field wall to make it 2-1. In the top of the second the Warriors extended their lead by four making it 5-1.
 
Not backing down early, STU got to within one once again in the bottom of the second. Angelo Piloto and Joey Thompson hit back to back singles to get it started, followed by Omar Baldo loading the bases with a walk. Lucas Lopez scored on a passed ball to make it 5-2, then Chris Scholler walked to drive in a run, and Robin Fernandez hit a sac fly to make it 5-4.
 
The Bobcats however slowed down offensively, and the Warriors being the good hitting team they are, they pulled away for the 12-6 win in game one.
