#18 Baseball Win Game Two and Three to Take Series Over #6 Warriors

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 1, 2023)- The St. Thomas University #18 Baseball team picked up two wins today over the #6 Webber International Warriors to take the series. In game one Robin Fernandez had two hits, the second being the one that would win the game. In game two Brian Garcia had three hits with three RBI's.
 
Game One
The Warriors started fast, notching two in the top of the first. In the third they extended their lead with a two run bomb. In the bottom of the fourth the Bobcats got to within two. Rey Hernandez hit a sacrifice fly driving in Robin Fernandez. Right after, Brian Garcia drove one up the middle bringing in Franklin Pinales Jr. After the early scoring from both sides, there would be no scoring for four innings. In the bottom of the eighth the Bobcats were able to tie it up. Angelo Piloto got it started with a solo shot to dead center, and Chris Schoeller hit a sac fly that allowed Rey Hernandez to score. Just when it looked like the momentum shifted, the Warriors scored three making it 7-4 in the tenth inning. The Bobcats didn't quit as they loaded the bases, and Rey Hernandez hit a sac fly to bring in Franklin Pinales Jr. to get the scoring started. Lucas Lopez made it a one run game as he singled and drove in Matt Granato. Kendry Noriega tied it with a single, and Robin Fernandez drove one to right field to bring the winning run across to give the Bobcats the win 8-7.

Game Two
The Bobcats were hungry for the series victory and it showed early. In the third Brian Garcia got the party started with a single to right field that scored Joey Thompson. In the fourth the Bobcats extended their lead with some trickery. Angelo Piloto and Rey Hernandez were on first and third, and both stole at the same time in which they got Piloto at second, but not before Hernandez came across the plate to make it 2-0. The Warriors tied it and the fifth and we had a game on our hands. The Bobcats had a huge sixth inning, which tacked on five more runs. Kendry Noriega put one in play, but reach on an error, which brought Brian Garcia in to score. Right after, Chris Schoeller stepped in the box and hit a sac fly to score another. Angelo Piloto stayed hot, and singled to left field, bringing Robin Fernandez home. And finally to wrap up the sixth, Joey Thompson put one in play that started all kinds of craziness. The Warriors got the first out at second, but reaching on a fielder's choice the Warriors thought Thompson was called out at first, but he was safe. A heads up play by the first base coach and the baserunners, two runs were able to score to make it 7-2. In the seventh Chris Schoeller hit a two run moon shot that hit the back of the batting cages in left field.1 The Warriors picked up two in the eighth, but in the bottom of the eighth Brian Garcia hit a double to center which scored two more, giving the Bobcats the victory 11-4.
