AVON PARK, Fla. (March 9, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Baseball team picked up two important wins, in the first two games of the annual Warner Tournament. In game one they defeated Calumet, and in game two defeated St. Ambrose.

Game One vs. Calumet
Â
- The Bobcats didn't have the start they wanted against the Crimson Wave, going down by five runs through the first two innings.
- In the bottom of the second, Rey Hernandez singled to center field, scoring Chris Schoeller who was hit by a pitch in a previous at bat.
- Joey Thompson stepped into the box in the bottom of the third, and hit a two-run bomb to right.Â
- Brian Garcia hit a grounder to first getting out, but Kendry Noriega came home to make it a one score game 5-4.
- After a scoreless fourth, in the bottom of the fifth Brian Garcia got a hold of one for the homer, and taking the lead 6-5.
- There would be no more scoring in this one, as Yordani Carmona shut out the Crimson Wave.Â

Game Two vs. St. AmbroseÂ

- After a scoreless first inning, in the top of the second, Edward Mateo was able to hit a grounder giving Rey Hernandez enough time to come across for the early 1-0 lead.
- With the bases loaded, Brian Garcia hit a single to left field, picking up two RBI's as Carlos Valderrama and Rey Hernandez scored. 3-0 STU.Â
- Moving all the way to the fifth inning, St. Ambrose was able to get a run across to make it 3-1.Â
- In the seventh and final inning, Rey Hernandez jacked one to left field, driving in pinch runner Matt Granato.Â
- The Fighting Bees picked one final run, but it would not be enough, and the Bobcats win game two 5-2.Â
