WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 26, 2023) – St. Thomas University Softball (31-15, 12-9 SUN) continue their historic season win a big series win against Keiser University (23-18, 12-9 SUN). The Bobcats swept the double header on Saturday to secure the series win and collect wins 30 and 31. This ties the program record for wins in a single season at 31 set in 2011.
This series was a big one for the Bobcats as it could possibly lead to a tie breaking situation for seeding in the conference tournament. With the second win of the double header, St. Thomas has secured a date at the Sun Conference Tournament for the first time since 2015.
Game one went in favor of the Seahawks as they led the way in the circle to a 1-0 victory. St. Thomas bounced back in a big way winning in run-rule fashion in game two 8-0 and then 6-0 for a shutout day two.
Game Two Recap
- St. Thomas scored in each of the first four innings.
- The game broke open in the fourth inning when the Bobcats put up four to gain the run-rule advantage.
- Bianca Palacios and Gabriella Gilbert hit home runs in the contest on a 1-1 count.
- The Bobcats stole six bases, tied for second most in a game this season. Also pushes the team total to 100, for just the second time in program history.
- Abbigail Smith picked up the five-inning complete game victory allowing just three hits and striking out four, while walking none.
- Smith picks up her 12th win of the season, the first Bobcat to do so since 2014 (Cristina Sacramento).
Game Three Recap
- The Bobcats struck first as Sophia Negron used her speed to get around the bases and scored on a wild pitch.
- In a quiet 2-4 innings, STU added an insurance run in the fifth.
- Ariana Manzanarez had a one-out double, then stole second.
- Jamillet Rodriguez then came in to pinch run and scored on a Sarah Descheene RBI-single to the second baseman.
- St. Thomas went on to score two runs in both the six and seventh to make it a 6-0 advantage.
- The Bobcats added another six stolen bases to move the season total to 106. They are 11 away from tying the single season record.
- The freshmen Melody Vizcaino had a day going six strong innings and picking up her fifth win of the season.
- Kaitlin Spalding came in and closed out the game sitting down three straight after allowing a lead-off single.

St. Thomas will host Florida Memorial in the Battle of Miami Gardens to close out the regular season. Senior Day will be celebrated on Friday, April 28 prior to the 6 p.m. game.
