LAKELAND, Fla. (September 20, 2023) - After inclement weather delayed the match up, the St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Soccer Team took to the field in Lakeland, Fla., continuing their stint on the road against #13 Southeastern University. The match up against the Fire ended in a draw with a final score of 0-0, with the Bobcats' maintaining their undefeated streak.
The Bobcats came out of the gate hot, recording five shots in the first half. Four of the shots were taken by Forward Gabrielle Cimino who is currently leading the Bobcats in shots this season, bringing her total shots for the season to 22. Miranda Ferradaz was also able to notch two shots during the match, including the first shot of the game. Ferradaz is just behind Cimino in shots for the season with 15.
The second half started with two corner kicks and three shots from the Fire, but the STU Defense was able to protect the net, allowing the Bobcats to get a corner and shot of their own. Defender Rebecca Louis and Midfielder Cristina Blaya San Pedro were each able to get shot off in the second half for the Bobcats, bringing their total to eight shots in the match.
Southeastern recorded seven more shots as well as three more corner kicks in the second half. Isabella Penaranda was in goal for the Bobcats, recording six saves and holding the Fire to no goals. The match ended in a tie, with a final score of 0-0 and the Bobcats maintaining their unbeaten record of 4-0-2.
The Bobcats will head home for the Battle of Miami Gardens, facing Florida Memorial University on Saturday, September 23rd at 7 p.m. at AutoNation Field.
