MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 27, 2024) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Baseball team (3-1) dropped the fourth and final game in the opening weekend series against Montreat College (1-3), 19-11. Both teams slugged a combined nine home runs aat Paul Demie Mainieri Field.Â

Game Recap
- The Cavaliers took a 2-0 early with two solo shots in the top of the first.
- Angelo Piloto hit his 3rd home run of the season in just as many days going opposite field to tie the score at two all inn the bottom of the third.
- Montreat added four in the fourth to regain their lead at 6-2.
- The bottom half of the fourth saw STU work their way back into it as Kendry Noriega drove one to left center off the scoreboard for his third home run of the season to knot the game at six all.
- The Cavaliers added two more to make it 8-6 in the top of the fifth.
- Luis Rodriguez drilled his second solo shot on the weekend to make it an 8-7 game in the bottom of the fifth.
- Erick Delgado extended the inning hitting a double to left field to tie the game yet again.
- Lucas Lopez hit a sac fly to left give the Bobcats their first lead at 9-8.
- The momentum continued as the speedy Yardielo Oniel stole home to give STU a two run cushion.
- The Cavaliers went on to score 11-unanswered in the final two innings to solidify their lead.
