AVE MARIA, Fla. (October 30, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Soccer team faced off against Ave Maria University on Wednesday evening for a non-conference match up. Gabi Cimino led the charge for the Bobcats, scoring both goals in their 2-0 victory over the Gyrenes.

The Bobcats and the Gyrenes started off evenly matched, STU notching four shots to Ave Maria's three shots in the first 25 minutes. In the 26th minute, the Bobcats were on the board. Gabi Cimino was able to net one, her 10th of the season off an assist from Dayanara Monetti. The Bobcats added five more shots to their tally, finishing the half with 10 shots compared to the Gyrenes' four. Isabella Penaranda also picked up two saves in the first half. The Bobcats held the 1-0 lead heading into the intermission.

The Gyrenes continued to fight in the second half, picking up four more shots, but the Bobcats stood strong. Cimino notched another goal in the 60th minute of the game off an assist from Megan Velazquez. The Bobcats ultimately notched a victory, holding the 2-0 over the Gyrenes until a power outage ended the match up early. Penaranda recorded her eighth shutout of the season, and picked up five saves. This win brings the Bobcats' overall record to 7-2-5.
