Litte's 3-Point Buzzer Beater Leads Bobcats to Victory

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (November 16, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team faced off against Keiser University on Saturday afternoon in a closely contested match up. The Bobcats were neck-and-neck against the Seahawks until the finals seconds, when Katrina Litte's buzzer beater three-pointer secured the victory for STU, 67-65.

The Bobcats struggled to find their footing in the first quarter, the Seahawks outscoring them 15-4. They picked up their momentum in quarter two, outscoring Keiser 16-15. Taylor Morgan led the charge in the second quarter, putting up five points to contribute to her double-digit run. Litte followed suit, recording her first four points of the game. The Bobcats still trailed by 10 heading into the intermission.

St. Thomas kept the fight up heading into the second half, picking up 17 points in quarter three. Sarei McGill added 10 points for the Bobcats while Maddie Scharrenberg picked up four rebounds, contributing to her eight rebound total. McGill continued to add points to the Bobcats' tally in the fourth, adding nine points, bringing her total to 21 for the game. Sophie Vandyke notched four points and four rebounds in the fourth, bringing her total to eight rebounds for the game and six points. The Bobcats kept fighting in the fourth, putting up 30 points to the Seahawks' 18. There was consistent back-and-forth in the final quarter, and it wasn't until the final seconds that the victory was solidified by Litte's buzzer beater. 

The Bobcats ultimately emerged victorious, 67-67 with McGill leading the pack with 21 points, Litte following with 15, and Taylor right behind with 13. This win brings the Bobcats to an overall record of 3-0 and a Sun Conference record of 1-0. Up next, St. Thomas will host Webber International University on Wednesday, November 20th at 5:30 p.m.
