MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 20, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team had a stellar showing against
Webber International University on Wednesday evening. The Bobcats defeated the Warriors in a 31-point victory, 80-49.
Maddie Scharrenberg led the charge in the first quarter, scoring 9 points, including the first field goal to put the Bobcats on the board. The Bobcats outscored the Warriors 23-8 in the first quarter.
Jaliyah Weekes had a standout performance for the Bobcats, starting in the first half with seven points. Weekes stayed consistent throughout the game, recording 12 points. Webber attempted to mount a comeback in the second quarter, outscoring the Bobcats by one point. The Bobcats led by 14 heading into the halftime break.
The Bobcats continued to outscore the Warriors in the second half, notching 17 points in the third and 24 in the fourth.
Sarei McGill had four points in both the third and fourth quarters, finishing the match up with 15 points. McGill notched her first double-double of the season with 15 rebounds against the Warriors.
Sophie Vandyke also picked up double-digit rebounds, finishing the game with 12.
The Bobcats ultimately defeated the Warriors, 80-49, keeping their undefeated streak alive. St. Thomas extends their record to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Sun Conference play.
Up next, the Bobcats will face off against Southeastern University on Saturday, November 23rd at 6 p.m. in the Fernandez Family Center.
