McGill Leads Bobcats to Home Victory Over. LSU-Alexandria

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 7, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team defeated LSU-Alexandria on Thursday evening in their second match up of the season. Sarei McGill had 19 points in the match up, leading the Bobcats to their 57-52 victory over the Generals.

McGill started the game off hot for the Bobcats, putting 11 points up in the first quarter alone. McGill also had five rebounds in quarter one while Ra'Nae Tumblin and Sophie Vandyke picked up three rebounds. The Bobcats closed out the first quarter with a narrow lead against the Generals, 16-12.

The Bobcats continued to extend their lead in the second and third quarters, the Bobcats led by 10 heading into halftime. The Generals outscored the Bobcats in quarter three 20-14, but STU maintained the lead heading into the final quarter of the match up.

Morgan Taylor led the Bobcats in quarter four, recording five points and four rebounds in favor of the Bobcats. St. Thomas held a narrow lead over the Generals for the rest of the game, defeating them 57-52. McGill finished with 19 points while Vandyke finished with another double-double, notching 10 rebounds and 11 points. Tumblin had the third-most points for the Bobcats with nine while also picking up six rebounds. Taylor finished with a near double-double with seven points and 10 rebounds. 

With this win, the Bobcats bring their overall record to 2-0. Up next, the Bobcats will head to West Palm Beach, Fla. to face off against Keiser University. The game will take place on Saturday, November 16th at 2 p.m.
