LAURINBURG, NC (December 13, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team continued their road stint in North Carolina on Friday evening, facing off against St. Andrews University. The Bobcats held the lead in the first half of the closely contested match up, but ultimately dropped the game to the Knights, 48-50.
St. Thomas kicked off the game strong,
Jaliyah Weekes once again leading the Bobcats in the first quarter with four points. STU outscored the Knights in the first quarter, 13-10. The Bobcats continued to hold the lead against the St. Andrews in the second quarter despite the Knights outscoring STU 18-16.
Amber Louis recorded half of the the Bobcats' points in quarter two, picking up eight points. The Bobcats held a one-point lead over the Knights heading into halftime.
St. Andrews picked up the pace in the second half, taking the lead against the Bobcats and outscoring them 11-8.
Maddie Scharrenberg notched four points for the Bobcats. St. Thomas attempted to take back the lead in the fourth quarter,
Samantha Vales recording five points for the Bobcats. Both teams recorded 13 points in the fourth, but the Bobcats were unable to secure the victory, falling to the Knights 48-50. This loss brings the Bobcats' record to 6-4 overall.
Up next, St. Thomas will return home for two match ups in the Cruzin Classic tournament on Tuesday, December 17th and Wednesday, December 18th against Briar Cliff University and Clinton College.
