MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (December 18, 2024) - The Bobcats cruised to victory Wednesday evening against Clinton College, defeating the Golden Bears in their second Cruzin Classic match up, 68-39.
Jasmine Worthy and
Jaliyah Weekes led the team for St. Thomas University, Worthy securing her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Weekes picking up 14 points of her own.
The Bobcats had a strong first half, with 29 points in the first 20 minutes. St. Thomas held the Golden Bears to just four points in quarter one, outscoring them 13-4.
Joey Delancy led the charge in the first quarter with six points. The Golden Bears picked up the pace in the second quarter, both teams scoring 16 points.
Jasmine Worthy started her scoring run, adding six points to the Bobcats' tally. Worthy also notched three rebounds, while
Sophie Vandyke recorded five for STU. St. Thomas led 29-20 heading into the break.
St. Thomas stepped it up a notch in the third quarter, outscoring Clinton College 26-10.
Katrina Litte and
Maddie Scharrenberg led here for STU, picking up six points in favor of the Bobcats while Worthy entered double digit territory with five more points. STU went 81.8% in field goals in the third quarter, going 66.7% from behind the arc. The Bobcats kept the lead heading into the final quarter, 55-30.
Jaliyah Weekes had a standout performance in the final quarter, recording nine points. The Bobcats emerged victorious against the Golden Bears, defeating them 68-39. This win brings their overall record to 7-5.
The Bobcats have one more match up lined up before the end of 2024. The Bobcats will take on Florida National University on December 30th at 2 p.m. in the Fernandez Family Center.
