MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 12, 2024) - The St. Thomas University Women's Swimming and Diving team made history, finishing as runner up in the NAIA National Championships. This is year three of competition on the women's side, and in 2022 they had four qualifiers and finished 15th, last year in 2023 they had 13 qualifiers and finished in 6th place, and this year they had 18 qualifiers (which is everyone on the roster) and finished 2nd overall. The bar has been raised each year, and next year all eyes are set on a Women's National Championship.
When asked about the Women's accomplishment, here's what Head Coach Ceasar Asadi had to say- "I'll never forget stepping onto campus in January 2021 and having two women on the team. I didn't even have enough for a relay team. Fast forward three years and we have just won our first ever relay National title. Watching the women finish first in the 200 free relay and seeing their reactions after, there are no words as a coach that can describe that. I couldn't be any prouder of this team, and i know that they have a taste for it now, and i'm truly excited for what's to come."
