West Palm Beach, Fla. – Looking poised to maintain their undefeated start to the 2024 season on Wednesday afternoon after winning the opening two sets at Keiser, the 11th-ranked St. Thomas Women's Volleyball team fended off an upset-minded Seahawks team that forced a fifth set in a 3-2 (25-16, 25-23, 14-25, 19-25, 15-13) triumph.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set 1 -St. Thomas quickly jumped out to an 8-1 advantage in the opening set, creating a double-digit lead at 15-5. The Bobcats kept the separation greater than eight for the rest of the frame.
- Set 2 – Falling behind midway through the second stanza 17-10, the Bobcats rallied behind a 7-1 run to get within one at 18-17. Keiser maintained the advantage until a 4-0 STU run ended the set at 25-23.
- Set 3 – The host pulled ahead of STU off a 6-0 run the gave them a 20-12 lead, holding the Bobcats without a run of consecutive points for the duration of the third set.
- Set 4 – Keiser used a late 3-0 push to create a six-point separation at 22-16, responding to back-to-back STU points with an equal run to force set point at 24-18.
- Set 5 – Trailing midway through the deciding set 7-5, the Bobcats scored three points to take an 8-7 advantage before a 3-0 KU rally created a 10-8 score. St. Thomas reclaimed the lead at 13-12 off a 3-0 rally, scoring back-to-back points after a Keiser tally evened the score to end the match.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Sana Dennis paced the offense behind 17 kills on a .364 clip while adding five assisted blocks and one solo block.
- Carolina Cruz recorded a double-double behind 11 kills and 10 digs.
- Back-to-back Sun Conference Setter of the Week Payton Bertke dished out 49 assists.
- Bianca Grassi anchored the defense behind 41 digs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- STU finished the match with 57 kills on a .139 hitting percentage versus 54 kills on a .154 clip for the host.
- St. Thomas served five aces while Keiser tallied eight.
- The Bobcats tallied two solo blocks with 24 assisted, Keiser recorded two solo and 20 assisted.
- The Bobcats held a 78-77 advantage in digs.
