BABSON PARK, Fla. (September 18, 2024) - The (RV) St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Soccer team defeated Webber International University in their Sun Conference opener, 4-1. Alexandra Acevedo led the charge for the Bobcats with two goals against the Warriors. 

The Warriors took the lead first, scoring in the 22nd minute. The Bobcats kept their momentum alive, Alexandra Acevedo responding in the 34th minute. Skylar Monroe notched the assist, earning her second of the season. 10 minutes later, Acevedo once again found the back of the net, assisted by Gabi Cimino, putting the Bobcats in the lead 2-1.

The Bobcats kept the fire alive in the second half extending their lead by two more goals. Cimino put up a goal of her own in the 69th minute, notching her eighth goal of the season. Maria Eduarda Mendes added to the tally in the 76th minute, scoring unassisted to put the Bobcats up 4-1. STU held the Warriors to one goal, with Isabella Penaranda notching eight saves.

Up next, the Bobcats will return home for the Battle of Miami Gardens against Florida Memorial University. The match up will take place on Saturday, September 21st at 7 p.m. at AutoNation Field.
