(RV) Bobcats Stay Undefeated in Chicago

ELGIN, Ill. (September 3, 2024) - The (RV) St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Soccer team traveled to Chicago to face off against University of St. Francis and Judson University. The Bobcats kept their undefeated streak alive, ending both matches in a draw, and extending their record to 2-0-2. 

Game #1: St. Francis:
The Bobcats first took on the Saints of St. Francis. St. Thomas dominated the field statistically, mounting 25 shots throughout the game, 15 in the first half and 10 in the second. The Bobcats also picked up the only corner kicks during the game, notching five in the first half. Gabi Cimino led the team in shots with a total of 11, followed by Megan Velazquez and Yasmeen McFayden who finished with four shots each. Despite their success on offense, the Bobcats were unable to find the back of the net. The match ended in a draw with a score of 0-0. Isabella Penaranda notched another shutout, earning three saves. 

Game #2: Judson: 
The next match on their road stint was against the Eagles of Judson. The Bobcats were able to take the lead early on, scoring their first goal in the 13th minute. Gabi Cimino put the first goal on the board for the Bobcats, assisted by Skylar Monroe. Less than a minute later, the Bobcats put yet another on the board, this time by Sophie Osman, which was assisted by Cimino. The Eagles were able to respond with a goal on a penalty kick, but the Bobcats held the lead 2-1 for the rest of the half. After the intermission, the Eagles found their equalizing goal, bring the score to 2-2. The score remained tied for rest of the game, ending in a draw.

Up next, the Bobcats will return to Sarasota, Fla. to face off against the New College of Florida after their first meeting was canceled due to weather. This match up will take place on September 9th at Noon.
