Miami Gardens, Fla. – Entering Sun Conference play on Saturday afternoon with their highest nationally ranking in program history following a program-best 12-0 start to the season, the 11t-ranked St. Thomas volleyball team fended off Webber International in a 3-1 (25-14, 25-17, 24-26, 25-12) triumph.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set 1 -After splitting the opening 12 points of the contest, STU used a 5-0 run to pull ahead 11-6. The Bobcats held Webber without a run of consecutive points for the rest of the frame to take the 1-0 overall lead.
- Set 2 – The Bobcats jumped out to a quick 6-0 advantage and led the entire second set to move one frame away from winning the match.
- Set 3 – The two sides traded the initial 40 points of the third stanza before a 3-0 STU run propelled them to a 23-20 lead. The Bobcats forced match point at 24-21 before a 5-0 Webber rally took the contest to a fourth set.
- Set 4 – STU quickly created a 5-2 lead and fended off the Warriors attempt to even the score with a 3-0 run to boast an early 8-4 advantage. The Bobcats kept the lead for the rest of the match.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Hope Leavy-Gaskins boasted 14 kills on a .500 clip with four digs and two assisted blocks.
- Carolina Cruz tied for the team-lead in kills with 14 while adding four digs, one solo block and one assisted block.
- Bianca Grassi anchored the defense behind 13 digs.
- NAIA Setter of the Week Payton Bertke dished out a 46 assists to go with seven digs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- STU finished the match with 53 kills on a .303 hitting percentage versus 32 kills on a .058 clip for the Warriors.
- St. Thomas served seven aces while Webber tallied four.
- The Bobcats tallied two solo blocks with six assisted, Webber recorded two solo and 16 assisted.
- The Bobcats held a 40-30 advantage in digs.
