Miami Gardens, Fla. – Highlighted by a Championship run by
Kris Ketchum, the 17th-ranked St. Thomas Men's Wrestling Team finished 10th at a Missouri Valley Invite that featured 53 programs.
STANDOUTS:
- Kicking off play in the 174 lb division with a pinfall, fifth-ranked Ketchum added a pair of technical falls and one major decision to secure a spot in the semifinals. Receiving a victory via forfeit, Ketchum blanked host Missouri Valley and seventh-ranked Francis Morrissey 7-0 in the Championship round.
- Receiving an opening round bye in the 125 lb division, No. 17 Conner Hueck advanced to the quarterfinals behind a 19-4 technical fall and 5-1 decision before falling in the main bracket 8-4. Hueck won two more games in the consolation bracket via 14-8 and 14-0 decisions before falling in back-to-back matches to earn a sixth-place finish.
- Sixth-ranked Thomas Williams cruised to the 141 lb division semifinals behind one technical fall, two major decisions and a 4-2 decision in the quarterfinals before a 5-3 setback. Williams prevailed in his fifth-place match.
- Jevian Ross pinned three-straight opponents to advance to the 174 lb quarterfinals, adding a pair of falls in the consolation bracket to place seventh.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Bobcats ended the Invite with 87.5 points to earn a top-10 team finish.
